Enthusiastic sold-out festival crowds continue to greet the film around the world
The September Issue will have its theatrical premiere August 28th, 2009 in New York City and opens around the U.S. on September 11th, 2009. Around the world, here are the film's current release dates:
- AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND: August 20
- UNITED KINGDOM: September 11
- FRANCE: September 16
- BELGIUM, THE NETHERLANDS & LUXEMBOURG: September 17
- SPAIN: September 25
- SCANDINAVIA, THE BALTICS & ICELAND: September 25
More countries will be announced soon, including theatrical openings in Latin America, Greece, Korea, Taiwan, South Africa, Thailand, Israel, and the Middle East.
At festivals from from Sydney, Australia to Edinburgh, Scotland, the film continues to wow audiences.
On April 4th, the film screened at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham, North Carolina. After the film, director R.J. Cutler and two of the film's stars--Vogue's Creative Director Grace Coddington and Durham native Andre Leon Talley, Vogue's Editor-at-Large,--took to the stage for a lively, informative discussion about the film moderated by NPR's Robert Krulwich. On the 11th of June, The September Issue made its Australian debut to a sold-out house at the Sydney Film Festival.
On June 19th, the film played to another sold-out house at SilverDocs, with people literally fighting over seats, according to the tweets on Twitter coming from the audience before the screening. After the film, the Washington Post's editor Robin Givhan hosted a Q&A with director R.J. Cutler.
The September Issue then jumped across the pond for a June 22nd screening at the Edinburgh Film Festival where film took "Best of the Fest" honors and garnered many glowing reviews from the UK press, as we feature below.
In the coming weeks, The September Issue will be screening at more festivals, including the Galway Film Fleadh on Friday, July 10th and the New Zealand International Film Festival on July 10th and 11th. We'll have more festival announcements soon as the festivals officially announce their programs.
